Who's behind InferHaven

InferHaven is built and maintained by one person, me, Ethan Ludwig. Not a faceless org, not a "team" of stock photos. Solo, in the open, and that's on purpose.

I started InferHaven from a simple conviction: private AI coding should be a right, not a feature gate. Using a cloud assistant means shipping your code and prompts to someone else's servers. Bulkhead flips that default: your models, your hardware, your code stays on your network. The network is opt-in by default, not opt-out.

InferHaven is my privacy and local-first AI research studio, one person. Each study publishes with its data, code and every raw model reply, under open licenses, with a DOI. The first study, "Socratic pressure test, v1", asks how often an AI tutor hands over passing code when a learner pushes for the answer. The studio has two products: Bulkhead, a self-hostable Docker stack for private AI coding on hardware you control, and CodeTrain, a Socratic AI tutor for engineering teams.

Bulkhead, the self-hostable stack, is the foundation, and the full source is public under a fair-source license. Bulkhead Cloud, the managed version, is planned to fund the work. That means keeping Bulkhead healthy isn't a side project; it's the whole strategy. I'm not going anywhere, and will be tending the lighthouse.
